Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 September 2026Effective: 1 November 2026v2.0

Important. LIAM is an AI financial assistant that provides information for educational purposes. It is not a financial advisor, investment adviser, broker, tax preparer or lawyer, and it does not give personalized investment, tax or legal advice.

Automatic renewal. Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers, then renew automatically every month or year at the price shown when you subscribed until you cancel. You will be reminded 1 day before your first charge, and you can cancel online at any time (Section 7).

1. Agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and Liam Agent, Montréal, Québec, Canada ("LIAM", "we", "us"), for the use of liamagent.com and the Liam Finance mobile app (the "Service"). By creating an account you accept them and our Privacy Policy; we record that acceptance with the version, date and time. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms exist in French and English; both versions have the same value, and the French version is presented first in Québec.

2. The service

LIAM is offered to residents of Canada and the United States. It includes:

  • An AI assistant that answers questions about your finances and simulates decisions against your goals
  • Upload and reading of financial documents (PDF, CSV, images)
  • Optional read-only bank connection through Plaid
  • Budgets, spending analysis, goals, strategy and alerts
  • Suggestions (“Autopilot”) that LIAM proposes and you decide on — LIAM never carries out a financial action for you
  • On request, meetings or messages with an advisor or expert (Section 4)
  • Voice input and read-aloud performed on your own device

We may improve, change or retire features. If we remove a material paid feature, we will tell you in advance.

3. Not financial advice

Everything the assistant produces — answers, simulations, scores, strategies — is general information generated by software from the data you provide. It may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and it does not take into account everything a licensed professional would. LIAM is not registered as an investment adviser with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or any state, not a broker-dealer or member of FINRA, and not registered with Canadian securities regulators (including the Autorité des marchés financiers or CIRO). No output is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold a security or other financial product. You make your own decisions and are responsible for them; for decisions with significant consequences, consult a qualified professional. Credit or health scores shown are estimates, not official scores.

4. Advisors and experts

When a decision involves choosing investment products, or goes further, you can book a video meeting with, or write to, an advisor or expert from the app. These professionals are independent of the assistant. Any regulated advice they give is given under their own registration, obligations and terms, which they will share with you. Whether a professional may advise you depends on their registration in your province or state; if they cannot, they will tell you before giving advice. LIAM does not guarantee the availability of a professional licensed where you live and is not responsible for advice they give.

5. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live), able to enter into a binding contract, and a resident of Canada or the United States. You may not use the Service if you are located in, or are a resident of, a country subject to a U.S. or Canadian embargo, or if you appear on a U.S. or Canadian government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

6. Your account

Keep your credentials confidential, keep your information accurate, and tell us at contact@liamagent.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account. One account per person; do not share it. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication.

7. Subscriptions, trial and billing

  • Plans and prices. Starter and Pro, monthly or yearly. Prices are shown in Canadian dollars in Canada and in U.S. dollars in the United States, with applicable taxes added where required. The price, billing frequency and trial length are shown before you confirm.
  • Free trial. New subscribers get a 14-day free trial. You are not charged during the trial. You will be reminded 1 day before your first charge. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your first payment is taken and the subscription continues. A trial is available once per person; subscribing again later is billed immediately.
  • Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the then-current price, and the payment method on file is charged, until you cancel.
  • How to cancel. On the web, go to Settings › Plans and cancel online — no call or email needed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then.
  • Billing. Web subscriptions are billed securely through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Price changes. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
  • Refunds. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable for partial periods. Nothing in these Terms limits a refund or cancellation right you have under consumer law — including Québec's Consumer Protection Act, the consumer protection laws of the other provinces and territories (such as Ontario's Consumer Protection Act and their rules on internet and distance contracts), and the automatic-renewal laws of U.S. states such as California and New York.
  • Credits. AI credit top-ups are one-time purchases, used by the assistant, and are not redeemable for cash.

8. Purchases through the App Store

If you subscribe or buy credits in the iPhone app, Apple processes the payment under its own terms, charges your Apple ID, and handles cancellation (in your App Store account settings) and refunds. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. A subscription bought on the web is not managed by Apple, and one bought from Apple is not managed on the web.

Terms that apply to the iOS app. These Terms are between you and LIAM only, not Apple, and LIAM — not Apple — is responsible for the app and its content. We grant you a non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. LIAM, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability, failure to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection and privacy claims, and third-party intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

9. Electronic communications

You agree to receive agreements, notices, receipts and other communications from us electronically — by email or in the Service — and that they satisfy any requirement that they be in writing, including under the U.S. Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN) and Canada's federal and provincial electronic commerce laws. You can download or print them, and you may withdraw this consent by closing your account. Service messages (billing, trial reminders, security, changes to these Terms) are part of the Service; marketing messages are sent only with your consent, as Canada's anti-spam law requires, and include a way to unsubscribe.

10. Identity verification

Some features may require identity verification, performed by Stripe Identity under Stripe's Privacy Policy. Stripe collects your ID and a selfie; we receive only the outcome. Verification is optional unless a feature you choose requires it.

11. Bank connection

If you connect a bank through Plaid, you authorize read-only access to your balances and transactions and agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. LIAM cannot move money. You can disconnect at any time in Settings. Connecting a bank is optional; you can upload statements instead.

12. Acceptable use and AI agents

Do not:

  • Upload another person’s documents or data without their permission
  • Provide false or fraudulent information
  • Break the law, or use the Service to harm, harass or impersonate anyone
  • Probe, scrape, reverse-engineer, overload or bypass the security, rate limits or plan limits of the Service
  • Attempt to extract the assistant’s confidential instructions or make it act against these Terms
  • Upload malware or malicious content

AI agents and assistive technology. You may use a screen reader, other assistive technology, or an AI agent or browser assistant acting on your own behalf to read our public pages and to use your own account, as long as it follows these Terms and does not disrupt the Service. You are responsible for what an agent does with your account. Public pages may be read and indexed by search engines and AI assistants as described in our robots.txt and llms.txt.

13. Your content and data

You own the documents and information you provide. You give us a limited licence to host, process and analyse them only to provide the Service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your financial data for advertising, and our AI provider does not train its models on it. You can export or delete your data at any time.

If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without obligation to you.

14. Our intellectual property

The Service — software, design, text, brand and the Liam Finance name and logo — belongs to Liam Agent and is protected by law. These Terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it; they do not transfer any ownership.

15. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output, simulations or scores will be accurate, complete or reflect real-world outcomes.

Some jurisdictions — including Québec, other Canadian provinces such as Ontario, and several U.S. states — do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or conditions. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted, and you keep the legal warranties and conditions the law gives you as a consumer.

16. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, LIAM is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, investment losses or financial decisions you make, arising from the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 dollars in the currency of your subscription.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for gross negligence, intentional fault, or bodily injury, and do not restrict the rights of consumers under Québec's Consumer Protection Act, the consumer protection laws of the other provinces and territories, or the mandatory consumer protection laws of U.S. states.

17. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify Liam Agent against third-party claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service. This section does not apply to consumers where the law of their province, territory or state prohibits it, including in Québec.

18. Suspension and termination

You can close your account at any time in Settings → Data & Account. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, is used fraudulently, or is unpaid; except in urgent cases (fraud, security, legal requirement), we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. When your account closes, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as 3, 13–17 and 19) remain in effect.

19. Governing law and disputes

Talk to us first. Most problems are solved quickly: write to contact@liamagent.com and we will try to resolve the matter within 30 days.

Residents of Canada. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you live in another province or territory, its mandatory consumer protection laws also apply to you and prevail where they must. You may bring a claim before the courts of your province or territory of residence or of the judicial district of Montréal. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under Québec's Consumer Protection Act — including your right to go before the courts of Québec — or under the consumer protection laws of the other provinces, such as your right under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act to bring an action in court or join a class proceeding.

Residents of the United States. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, except that the consumer protection, privacy and automatic-renewal laws of your state of residence apply where they cannot be waived. You may bring a claim in the state or federal courts for the county where you live, and you may always use small-claims court for a claim within its limits.

No forced arbitration. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not waive your right to take part in a class action.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. For a material change, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect for your account, with the new text and the date it takes effect, and ask for your acceptance before you continue. Until then, the version you accepted continues to apply. If you do not accept, you may close your account without cost or penalty and, for a paid plan, cancel it (Settings › Plans, or your App Store settings) before the change applies to you. New accounts accept the current version when they sign up. The version and dates at the top of this page always show the current Terms; earlier ones are at previous versions.

21. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and LIAM about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them to a successor that continues the Service under them. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
